The Award was originated in 1985 by Mr. Arthur O'Neill and Mr. Fred Bullick, former chairmen of the branch. The then chairmen Mr. Harold Aves supported their initiative and purchased the trophy we are using today. The Award recognises the achievment of Northern Ireland organisations in the Export field.
The criteria are essentially as flexible as possible but consistent with a foundation of established progress. Proposals are submitted to a committee of active business members and are subjected to rigorous evaluation. That the judgement is sound can be recognised by the numbers of previous holders who grace our export scene today contributing substantially to the Northern Ireland economy.
The concept has been fortunate to receive substantial sponsorship by Ulster Bank, Northern Bank and Bank of Ireland, since its inception. The active participation and guidance of our sponsors is an essential part of the procedure.
Recognition of achievement by ones fellow professionals is a worthy accolade and our branch is proud to have initiated this presentation. The enterprise, determination and application of the Northern Ireland community will ensure that many organisations will grace this Award in the years ahead.
